The action depicts the sacrifices of women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State.

It stars Meryl Streep who provides a delightful cameo as Emmeline Pankhurst, rallying the troops from the balcony before disappearing into the night, Helena Bonham Carter as firebrand chemist Edith Ellyn, Anne-Marie Duff and Ben Wishaw.
