This moderate to difficult section has a variety of terrain beginning with a long sandy beach. Then due to access difficulties at Bennane walkers must cross the A77 (with great care) and use the grass verge and high embankment to the top before re-crossing and running down the seaward verge to a roadside path and the shore itself. Like the entire Ayrshire Coastal Path, this section hosts spectacular coastal views. Along with these however, are some quaint old fishing harbours as well as diverse flora and coastal geology. More sights for walkers to enjoy along route are smuggler’s caves, the Russian Cruiser Variag Monument, and Carleton Castle
